Go to places for recipes
I’m not a recipe creator and so I rely on other smart people to come up with delicious things to bake. Here is a collection of places I go to, whenever I need inspiration.
Cupcake Jemma
The YouTube algorithm once recommended me a video about how to make the perfect cupcake. I clicked it and since then I’m subscribed. Whenever I don’t know what to bake, I look at Jemma’s videos for inspiration.
Behind Jemma’s YouTube channel is she and the crew of Crumbs & Doilies, a bakery in London. They offer freshly baked cupcakes, brownies, and cookies. They also make different kinds of cakes for all kinds of occasions. If you are in London, definitively pop in for a coffee and cupcakes, they are delicious! And if you can’t get there but live in the UK, they do deliver cookies and home baking kits.
Jemma shares recipes of almost all the baked goods she sells at Crumbs & Doilies on YouTube and also makes masterclass videos. In them she teaches how to coat a cake with buttercream or fondant, make the perfect cupcakes, and many other important things. The recipes are easy to follow and foolproof. She gives measurements in metrics, but kind followers will comment with the measurements in cups for the American followers.

This bleog belongs to Marian an Austrian baker. Because of this, it is also only in german. I don’t remember how I stumbled on this blog, but his Rainbow Cake was my first layered cake I did. He has recipes for cupcakes, cakes, bread, traditional Austrian desserts, guides on how to make motif cakes and a lot of info about baking in general.
The recipes are easy to understand and follow and the guides for motif cakes with photos and step by step instructions are very helpful.
My absolute favourite recipe from Marian is his vanilla-pudding-buttercream-topping used in the Movember Cupcake.
